Pedagogy and technology, founded together.

We make MonstoryX in Graz, Austria. One of us teaches future teachers, the other has spent twenty years building digital products.

Why we make it

Children need to speak to learn, and screens mostly ask them to watch. Teachers know this, but few have the time to make spoken, character-led practice for this week’s lesson.

So a teacher says what to teach, reads every line and approves it, and the class plays it by speaking.

Who we are

  • Marie Knaus

    Co-founder, pedagogy

Professor of digital media education at PH Steiermark, the University College of Teacher Education Styria. Marie leads pedagogy, curriculum fit and teacher testing.

  • Emile Harmel

Twenty years building digital products, among them an enterprise e-signature platform, an app in Germany’s national e-health programme and Mazda’s European sales platform. Emile built the MonstoryX platform.

Where we come from

  • 30,000downloads of Monstory, our first voice-and-story app
  • About 500Austrian schools reached
  • ComeniusEduMedia Medal, with recognition from the Austrian and German ministries of education

MonstoryX is the next generation, built so that teachers can make quests from their own lessons.
